The next version of Complete Patrol Logger is currently in development as of last month. The new version, which will follow in the footsteps of StateWatch, will have an overhaul of its User Interface, which will see it arrive with a new look.
A myriad of enhancements including the bringing together of the member form to just one windows form, which will provide better performance, and will also allow the user to open more than one member at once. Import and Export have been rewritten for greater ease and flexibility, as well as a new database backup function allowing users to backup via the program.
The major focus will be in three areas with this release;
· Patrol Information
· Patrol Rostering
· Club Annual Summaries
In the past twelve months, clubs have started to look at the functionality of the Patrol side of CPL, and while their comments indicates it contains the majority of functionality, there are a few key areas lacking, or the process could just be made a little bit easier.
Patrol Rostering is the same, mostly in that it was somewhat confusing to set up a patrol. With a major rework of this module, and with the addition of patrol and patrol member statistics, we see this module as being able to satisfy even the biggest club.
Club Annual Summaries will be reworked. Many clubs run their whole membership through CPL and have started to use the functionality of the Annual Summary Module. When this module was first put together, requirements were somewhat sketchy and so it might not do as everyone expects. With this rework, we hope to make club reporting easy and more flexible.
And of course the one that everyone has been waiting for, we will be releasing a new Complete Patrol Logger Administrators guide. We have just done a re-write for StateWatch, now CPL will get one.
As we progress through the development, we will be posting screen prints etc to the web so you can see the changes. The web site also has the forum module working which allows users of CPL and anyone else to discuss ideas, future enhancements, and methodologies for making both CPL and StateWatch better programs, and easier to use. There are three forums, one for Complete Patrol Logger another for StateWatch and a General one for issues that may have nothing to do with anything. Please feel free to use these forums, as we will be monitoring them for your suggestions as well as to answer any questions that may be posted.
