Surf Member Management Program...the Next Generation. |
| Caligular Group currently has a commercially available application suite, which caters for the three levels of the current SLSA hierarchy, these being Club, Branch and State. This application has been successful in a number of areas, these being predominately the ability for each state to confidently know the details of each member within the state and be able to report on this quickly. Clubs and Branches too have this luxury with the aid of the Complete Patrol Logger application.
|
| While the current applications are successful at containing information regarding Club Members and Patrol information, it falls short in allowing Clubs, Branches and States to easily share data, due to the fact that Complete Patrol Logger and StateWatch are deemed "Fat Clients", their data is stored locally, and thus must be transferred to its parent at regular intervals.
|
| The current model Complete Patrol Logger and StateWatch is based on, is nearing the end of its life cycle, and thus Caligular Group has already started development on the next generation of applications to replace both Complete Patrol Logger and StateWatch. Caligular Groups vision is to supersede these applications with one that adopts a more truly Enterprise discipline.
|
| The vision will enable users at each level to utilize the application and have their updates immediately available to all other users.
|
Current Development Areas
The two currently available applications Complete Patrol Logger and StateWatch make available such task as;
- Member Administration
- Patrol Statistics Tabulation
- Member/Patrol Statistics (Annual Summaries)
- Standard and Custom Reporting
- Exam Request Module
- National Address Book
- Equipment Database
- Security Model
|
| Phase 1 of our current development is to replicate current functionality with a version that utilizes a central database for holding all information, and the Internet as a transportation medium. Advantages of this model will give clubs the functionality they already have and the ability to use the application anywhere that has an Internet connection and a computer that meets the required specifications.
|
| While Phase 1 will be a re-write of the current system, there will be enhancements to that functionality, Member Registration and Patrol Rosters to name a few.
|
| In addition to the current application Caligular Group will also be extending their website to include areas where individual members can administrate their own personal details as well as view Awards and Patrol Hours and Competition results. With the new distributed model, the application disperses the ability to keep the information current for each member and available to those who need to utilize the data.
|
| In addition to Clubs, Branches and States utilizing the application, National Office will also be able to view information contained within the database for each Club, Branch and State within Australia. This will allow for easier statistics gathering, information dispersal and capacity planning.
